...worth $100 if it was a Chinese knock-off product with a convoluted interface. Time is money, and most folks buy Apple because you plug and go ... it just works.

A mathematical formula calculated by a British university professor has found that time actually is money.

According to the equation, the average British minute is worth just over 10 pence (15 cents) to men and eight pence (12 cents) to women.

The formula is: V=(W((100-t)/100))/C, where V is the value of an hour, W is a person's hourly wage, t is the tax rate and C is the local cost of living.

    wow, time really is money!

I've been pleasantly surprised by my Apple TV. My biggest gripe is that they haven't officially enabled the USB port to allow external HD storage.

#6, I buy Apple products because they are superior, and reassuringly expensive, therefore preventing the jealous riffraff from buying them. I don't want to be seen using the same products as lesser peons like #1, #3, #4, or #5.

does it play MKV files? those high definition ones. I'm really looking for a player that can do that. Also, how about playing music broadcasts (shoutcast, etc)?

#10,12, I don't believe so. It has extremely limited file support, but a hack will allow you to play xvid files which may make it worthwhile.

at first I was intrigued by the AppleTV, because my lazy ass enjoys simplicity, but it's not enough of an all-inclusive media server to warrant just dropping $200. It needs a much larger hard drive, could use an integrated DVD drive and ripping software so you can store your movies and songs in a central location, or should support streaming media of all formats from a computer. Simply plugging a laptop into a TV has the same result, and costs 1/10 the AppleTV does.

That is, of course, assuming you already have a laptop, and the cost incurred is that of the connector cables between your computer and your TV.

Apple products are geared towards consumers who only have the intelligence to handle simple tasks. Apple is at the forefront of dumbing down America.

Whereas rotorocket is geared towards being a minute cog faithfully doing the bidding of his corporate masters. He has admitted to being the midst of a balding, overweight mid-life crisis, as he wallows in the mediocrity of his suburban subdivision, lawn mowing existence, and is the very epitome of the little man syndrome as he drives around in his penis compensating '96 Camaro. He, and people like him, are the very definition of "Dumbed Down America". *smirk*

#16, it's good that they have taken this task upon themselves. Previously it was just George Bush and m0f0 dominating this industry. And with Bush's 2nd term coming to an end, I was fearful of a monopoly. But there are rumors of a m0f0 Apple merger to be known as Crab Apple: So easy, even a retarded caveman could use it. We can assume m0f0 will be their spokesretard. His constant repetition of the same old lines makes him perfect.
