Newegg has the Archos 5 250gb 4.8" MP3/MP4 Player for $300 with free shipping. It has a 250GB hard drive to store all of your movies, TV shows, video, music and pictures. [Compare]

Hmmm...thought for sure this was a refurb with the large price drop. I'm very happy with the 2-year-old 605 160GB, but have reached the end of the drive. Another 90GB would be nice (I don't mind paying extra for the plug-ins), but if this isn't a refurb, it means something new is coming...oh wait, I see they've released new PC tablets and netbooks:

The low price could also mean that sales have dropped off significantly due to their poor customer service (based on the reviews at Newegg).

Yeah, I pretty much accept the conclusion that they have some of the worst customer service ever. I have no first-hand experience with that, thankfully, but have read about it over and over. If I had to cynically guess at their business model, it seems to be: build the slickest device you can as quickly and cheaply as possible (cutting corners wherever possible), devote minimal time to firmware and no time to customer service, and drop support of the product 2 development cycles later.

They had me hooked through the 605 and the 5 series...very decent PMPs that happened to have wifi + browser. But given their machines aren't rock solid, NO WAY am I buying a PC tablet from them. I trust ASUS 1000 times more.

nice, but is it pocket portable? i have a 32gb flashram Teclast M55 and it seems to do the job while fitting in my pocket at 4.3 inches in screen size.
