I don't need any more orphan devices. I can hold out longer than they can keep these prices so high.
the price hasn't dropped a bit besides $190 + $10 = $200 in this country at least
The larger screen is nice I guess, but as #1 said, this is probably going to be an ophaned device (no support from anyone).
Also, I don't know what new system of math Ben is using today, but the last I checked, $190 + $10 shipping = $200 (not $190).
For that price you could get two brown Zunes.
Awful expensive for a refurbished iPod/Zune-wannabe.
IPOD/ZUNE Wannabe?? Archos was the first on the scene when PMP devices first came out. Also, I have the 604 wifi..bacon is bullet proof. There are firmware upgrades every month.
S The Zune is junk!!
Read the specs. It's almost an apples/orange comparison to ipods/zune. It's a whole lot more but in a bigger package.
I had the 4gb model. It was glitchy as hell and the battery life was extremely poor compared to what the described. I returned it after about 5 days.
Are you guys really trashing Archos? You need to try one out before you speak badly about it. It beats the Ipod, Zunes, and Sandisk players hands down.
#8, your model doesn't compare to this one. There is a big difference between the new line with smaller drives and the bigger ones.
I recently purchased the 605 Wifi 80g from Amazon (for $290)

I love it. As stated before, it is not comparable to ipods, zunes, etc. It is a different beast entirely. It is geared more towards travelers with its much larger screen. The movie experience is comparable to a portable dvd player... unlike the iSquint or zune movie experience.
The only down side is i wish it had tv-out without buying a separate part. Also not this separate part (media dock) allows the archos to function like a DVR.
It also has a full browser (Opera), supports opera widgets, and a PDF reader for you ebook guys.
Its touch screen also if that is not mentioned anywhere.
