B&H Photo Video has the Archos 604 30GB 4.3" Widescreen Portable Multimedia Player, Gunmetal Gray for $230 + $6 shipping = $236 shipped. CNet rates it 8.3/10 (RIP James Kim). [BizRate]
4.3" 16:9 widescreen 24-bit color TFT LCD screen that displays full DVD resolution
30GB hard drive that can store up to 85 movies, 300,000 photos or 15,000 songs
this is a good price, but generation 5 is coming out. these 604 will get lower.
thanks for the info #1 -- just what i wanted to know! also, correct me if i'm wrong, but this is not the wifi version, right?
no this is no the wifi. the 604 wifi costs $100 more or so. also, i wouldn't buy the 604 wifi since it can't play flash media. the 605 wifi can play flash media (eg. youtube.com or veoh.com).
FYI, Woot (woot.com) offered the 40GB Archos 504 several nights ago. You can no longer purchase it there (Woot sells at a fixed price one item starting at 1am ET, and when gone you wait until 1am the next night for a new item, EXCEPT on a Woot-off). ....all this helps YOU because there's a lot of description and commentary to review, if you're curious. Click on "the blog" near the top of the homepage. Or try these links (hope I got it right):

By the way, B&H totally kicks ass. Their stuff always works, they have an insanely good return policy (when "always" doesn't happen to happen), and their sales staff (brick/mortar) knows their stuff and, in my personal experience, has repeatedly listened to my needs and then suggested a cheaper model than what I was considering. They are a retailer that gets it right. They are not always the cheapest (seldom, actually), but they are consistently reasonable. Frequently they are more expensive by not more than 10% above the cheapest price I can find. I buy from them b/c of peace of mind. If you have never been to their store on 34th Street & 9th Ave. in New York City, you should include it on your site-seeing list with Times Square and the Statue of Liberty. No, I do not work there. Oh, and in my opinion, MeritLine sucks.
Sincerly,

I've been there, it's entirely run by Jews. Mostly hicitic (not sure if that's the spelling). Not that I'm racist or anything, but that's just what you should expect. I was there looking for a digital photo album, and the two young guys that were supposed to "help" me were seriously bacon challenged. Not only did they have no clue about any of that stuff, but they didn't even have the intelligence to ask someone knowledgable for their policy on returns. When asked about their return policy, "Uh, I dunno" was their reply. Then they just stood there, talking to each other ignoring me. Nice.
No offense to #4 (and #5). This was just my experience.
No offense taken, I was only making a joke about that Ralph dude from him saying he's not an employee and put a signature down for him joking that he did work there. SHeesh I thought it was funny
