B&H Photo Video has the Archos 604 30GB 4.3" Widescreen Portable Multimedia Player, Gunmetal Gray for $230 + $6 shipping = $236 shipped. CNet rates it 8.3/10 (RIP James Kim). [BizRate]
4.3" 16:9 widescreen 24-bit color TFT LCD screen that displays full DVD resolution
30GB hard drive that can store up to 85 movies, 300,000 photos or 15,000 songs
If you are spending $236 on an MP3 player you really need to re-prioritize (and yes, this applies to you iTurd users too).
WTF is the stock photo they use to simulate an image on the screen? Are we supposed to think The Usual Suspects? The Greasy Manhole? B&H's istockphoto credits must be low.
If you only use this for mp3s then you might be as bright as dave_c! No hard feelings bro.
Someone that makes more than you needs to re-prioritize because they can afford nicer things?
Yes, if they suffer from the delusion that paying more automatically meanS a nicer thing.
'Tis not a matter of budget, rather a matter of recognizing what you receive for the $. Nobody gets rich if they can't recognize that.
I fail to see where it says cost implies higher quality in the original post. That being said, Archos makes a nice product.
8 gig Sansa: $150 = $18.75/gig
30 gig Archos: $230 = $7.66/gig
Who still compares $/GB when one has flash and the other doesn't? A mechanical HDD based MP3 player is silly today if you're paying over $100, it's just going to break after you've dropped it a couple times.
