(Ah, I see that the bacon filter replaced "de@l-" in the URL with "bacon")
- comparable specs to the Droid3 or Bionic - Archos is bumping the processor speed up on the 2012 units (these are clearance) - the option to plug in a 3G dongle is a nice feature - not sure about the rooting community or support from Archos (heard lots of bad stories)
Overall for $250 it's a "keep for 6-12 months" starter tablet. In my experience, I've regretted those kinds of purchases, and been a lot happier buying mainstream (Asus Transformer + dock). But for the hardware that's a good price.
I can't find the field where to enter a coupon...
Only $9 cheaper than Amazon, and not even that if you have to pay sales tax...not a great deal.
Also $255 w/free shipping at adorama: http://www.adorama.com/ARC501897.html
Couple of thoughts --
- overall, not bad specs
- BUT the RAM is conspicuously missing (even from Archos' website), I'd guess 500MB (yeah, confirmed at androidpolice: http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/10/29/baconalert-adorama-offering-8gb-1ghz-and-16gb-1-5ghz-archos-80-g9-dual-core-tablets-for-250-each-thats-50-and-80-off-respectively/)
