Don't use this on an XFX GeForce 8600 XXX, it won't fit. The screw holes are off by a fraction of an inch. Also, this isn't much of a deal, $27 is a pretty typical price for this.

Buy the accelero S1 rev 2. I bought it new on ebay for about $20 shipped. The s1 rev 2 has 4 heatpipes and allows far better cooling than the S2 which has only 2.
My S1 brought down the temps on my 4850 to 35C idle, 41C load.
I have 2 fans on the grills, both running at very low rpm. You need to have a fan on it, it cannot run passively as in many newer cards, the memory requires cooling too.

With the stock heatsink, the memory was hot to the touch, now they run at room temps.

This is one purchase that will be worth it, as you can re-use it for years to come.

i have this tock on my 8800gt it runs fine without a fan, idles at around 55c. your 4850 just happens to be extra hot but everyone knows 4850's are hot. It should have come with separate memory heatsinks?

Yes, it did, you will have to stick them onto the memory chips.

Another thumbs up for the Accelero S1, keeps my 8800GT very cool and quiet (I don't use the fans). However this is the S2 with only 2 heat pipes. Works only for older cards.
