X-bit labs just conducted a review of thermal compounds. Check it out. The difference between the bottom and top rated ones is extreme, but the difference among the top 5 is basically non-existent. AC5 held its own.

That tube could easily become the shiniest suppository you've ever had.

I've used this on all my builds. Works great, but this is the same price that I bought it for a year ago.

Over rated, over hyped, and over priced.

If you buy one now, you'll have enough for the next 10 years. Even if you don't want to replace your stock thermal paste, it's good to have around in case you have to take off and replace your heatsink.

It's definitely better than the paste that comes with most heat sinks.

When first using there will not be a good temp drop on your CPU..bacon takes this stuff about 200 hours to really seal and kick in. I use this stuff on every CPU change I do for my business changing old 1.7 Celerons to 2.8AGHz Prescotts in MAME machines..bacon works great on these hot processors.

Multiple independent test show this will give the lowest temps, but most of time it is just a few degrees.

Your PC will not run faster at 48C than at 52C.

Only if you are overclocking to the max and the temp is holding you back do you need that extra few degrees.

Most of the time though, instability in the overclocked system will stop you from going faster before heat does.

You're better off lapping your heatsink and using a good quality paste than just silver paste alone.

How long does the stuff last? Do I need to get a new supply, for a new CPU, every 2-3 years?

Just got some at newegg a week ago, but it's so small (even too small to be a "special toy" #12 & #20), I can't find it anymore.
