ZZF has a bad customer rating at Resellerratings.com - 5.8/10. http://www.resellerratings.com/store/ZipZoomFly - check out the horror stories. Almost as bad as TigerDirect.

Avoid and go with Buydig or somewhere else reputable. Ben, you should probably consider removing ZZF from your list of regular deal merchants.

Since Newegg had its hard drive fiasco of shipping bare drives in boxes of peanuts, I've bought all of my hard drives exclusively from ZZF. I've been impressed with the way they pack drives, and their prompt shipping. I also find that they quickly update their inventory lists, when a drive sells out. That said, I have never needed or experienced their customer support.

I'm ambivalent about seeing deals from shady stores on this site. I've never bought anything from TigerDirect because of the horror stories of others, but a deal is a deal (even if some of the "deals" lately have not been researched to verify that the price is a true bargain). I take responsibility for researching the seller's reputation before deciding, I don't expect BensBargains to.

I generally stay away from rebates because of the hassle, and the risk that the company won't make good on them. It is also a turnoff that rebates are now in the form of Gift Cards, instead of checks that I can put in my bank account.

I agree it is the buyer responsibility to know who he/she is buy from.

I have only purchased hard drives from ZZF and the packaging is FAR superior to Newegg. (I have purchased a lot from Newegg; no other complaints there).

I hate rebates otherwise I would buy more from ZZF. But I have not had enough activity with them to comment on any horror story.
