Read the Egg reviews: No drivers, no software, no firmware on the ASUS site.
Yes, it's OEM, and it's cheap, but be aware you have to buy more stuff that costs more than the drive to make this thing work.
Thanks, that's enough to scare me away
Some people already have the software but didn't ben find a deal or two on the BR playback and burning apps in the past?
$50 shipped and some disks, I might think about it. Rebate with $90 out of pocket; no way.
Asus never given me a reason not to use them, they always do well with the rebates. $74.98 is the next cheapest one that is an LG, which I do own and have not had any issues with. If you wait a few more years the bluray burners will be $50 without rebates.
Asus has a good reputation as far as I can tell. I'm in for one...Rebate offers a $4 charge for a "No Wait Service Fee" to get your rebate faster.
This is a one day sale so if you are on the fence, make up your mind soon. there's a LG for $70

Dayhum, a freaking $40 rebate on a $90 item. I need one for a new build but it's just too big of a rebate, and I've been very satisfied with my LG. I may wait for a better deal on one of them.
Looks like the included 5 pack of BR disks is gone now...
And it's now only a $20 rebate....
