This has been this price for sometime now... while the other two that I had list at that point ( several weeks ago) were also good deals, but have since hard workerup and/or lost the Free shipping.
Wallace.... I'm bored

The description here is a bit confusing as it says the card is 1gb and then it also says it is 512mb. Luckily, if you click the link and go to Newegg, you'll see it is indeed a 1gb GDDR5 card, not 512mb.
Where have all the deals gone? I could see 4890's for less than this about a month ago..
If this trend continues someone could open up a "Graphics card investment fund"
#3: I wouldn't. DirectX 11 graphics cards are being launched in a month. That will definitely drive current-gen card prices down.
#3: don't. DirectX 11 graphics cards are being launched in about one month. That will definitely drive current-gen card prices lower.
I would really like to get a new video card to replace my old 8800 GT but I hear that the DX11 cards are just around the corner so I guess I will wait to see what turns up.
Was DirectX 10 even used?
its hard to buy new cards these days w/ xbox's as cheap as they are. but i would miss the kbd and mouse.
#3 I'll put short on "Graphics card investment fund"
#3 -- I hear what you're saying; the pricing on almost every card has marched back up. While many are gelded with cheapened with DDR2 and/or calling them Green with minimal cost involved, but a premium pricing. As Compwiz17 states; yes we may see Dx11 ATI at some point in the next two months, so why are prices looking worse not better? We're already into the Back to School buying time, which is traditionally the stretch where graphic card purchasing picks up. I see some trepidation from economy… most folk have cash flow issues and marketing takes that into consideration also.
Universally, it's said ATI inventory for their latest offerings isn't bursting at the seams so they figure why hobble the supply. While the inventory levels with Nvidia's are probably somewhat similar, they just can no longer sacrifice more of their margins. In all probability ATI is content that current inventory doesn't need to be pushed out right now, figuring to wait for new cards. Then move card out on Black Friday deals considering consumer confidence might be more apt to spend by that point. Nvidia has to soldier on with what they have until there capacities on Dx11 cards come on line, which looks to not be till Q1 2010.
As deals go there was the MSI R4830-T2D1G; that could have be had for $58 Free shipping I saw it come up on Friday! It's now a deactivated number for Egg.
It had a $15 Egg discount, -AR $15, and $17 Coupon Code VGA8519; but Nooo Ben couldn't list that deal.... but his favorite 8400GS still get listed every other couple of days!
I was tempted to pick this up, but when dx11 hits, all these cards will be useless.
Not unless you're going to jump to Win7 when it's released. Me I'll probably wait till SP1 revision is closer at hand so figure it would provide 6-8 monthes after the release.
Hey, deal me in on some of that action.
CompWhack, don't you have a job?
Actually, they're launching within a month: http://bensbargains.net
Vista also supports DirectX 11.
yes. But if someone's willing to let me short sell graphics cards, I'm not opposed to getting rich.
#16 -- I heard early on at various forums that folks expected MS to provide Dx11 capability (upgrade) to Vista, however as of lately I can't find anything official that MS is intending to do that and if so when.
ATI RV870 Evergreen release date...
While I've searched and I'm finding nothing conclusive that ATI is planning Dx11 RV870 by mid-September I still say Oct-Nov time frame they got no reason to rush it right...

Nice link back to Ben's
i love the heat pipes of this card,it looks like a $30 video card cooler.
#18: did you try the link I posted?
or, search google for ATI launch 11
The 11 narrows it down to just DirectX 11 results.
