Got this for $325 ($365 - $40 rebate) around new year...price fell fast as the 1000HE was announced and released. Upgraded to 2GB RAM and 11n, switched the right-shift and up-arrow keys. The smaller screen and keyboard took some time to adjust to, but the portability and battery life make it an awesome machine.

Still for $50 more I'd skip this deal and grab the 1000HE at $350.

I bought this same model in Dec. It is awesome. Great for trips etc. You won't be sorry.

Good netbook, great price. I just dropped mine from 7ft high (bunk bed) onto a wooden floor when I was drunk last week. There is a crack in the venting case from it.

It didn't boot for awhile until I finally replaced the upgraded ram to the original ram. It works brand new now! It is very durable.

Ben, why do you keep bringing this one back? Let us know when the HE version gets that cheap.

I have this too -- paid $475 for it (a while back, obviously). It's GREAT, and I've upgraded both the RAM and harddisk with no trouble.

However, the terribly small right-shift key really is THAT BAD. It's worse than useless. I'm not sure swapping up-arrow and shift would help for me, but maybe it would (I'll try that).

As a touch-typist, I would NOT buy another netbook with this bad of a right-shift key ever again (although it's GREAT otherwise).

The swap trick with the shift key works fine. I suggest swapping up with shift, and right with down. Use eeebuntu and the shell script to move the keys is simple. You can pry off the physical key caps and swap them too.

Nice to see they fixed the shift key with the HE model. I didn't think it would bug me until I got using the machine heavy and I realized that I exclusively use the right shift. And sure enough, it'll drive you crazy where they put it. doh!

Matthew - you're right - even without the keyboard fix, the HE adds N networking, bluetooth, and longer life batteries (at least claimed-to-be longer: both are 6 cell lith).
Win XP home (or ubuntu) both beat the hell out of vista home basic that comes on some of the other netbooks. IMHO "basic" == crippleware.

Whoops - don't press the f5 key after you've posted - you'll end up with a double post (sorry!)
