    $200, I'd buy this. At $400, sorry.

The nokia tablet is a better bet as of today's situation of cost vs features.

Little too expensive for such a lowend processor. There are better notbooks out there for similar price.

Many of you are missing the point. The Eee isn't a "laptop". I've got a laptop. It's 7 lbs. And when stuffed into it's bag with spare battery and charging brick, I'm hauling around 10 lbs. I want something that's small and light. I'm seriously looking at the Eee or maybe the Nokia N810 when it comes out in a couple of weeks.

Not that anyone will be able to read this, but here are some alternatives on ebay.

    Dell X200 going around 300.
    Dell X300 going around 400.

Depending on your specific needs, these alternatives may be better.

I think the EEE PC is worth buying for the simple luxury of being able to shake the laptop around while it is on. However, for 400 dollars, you are getting an ultraportable with a Flash drive instead of a Hard drive. I think the EEE "SSD" is more of a Flash drive due to its small size (it would have to be at least 16GB to be considered a SSD for me), than a real SSD.

Spec-wise, though, the EEE loses to any other ultraportable you can find used on ebay for around that price.

Yeah... a laptop would definitely be more useful than this device. You can get a low-end laptop for about the same price.

Yeah. I've been following this for a while and can't wait for them to drop back down to the $200 price point. If they can do that and also tabletify it, i'm game.

did anyone hear about the mess up New Egg was doing with their shipment of EEE PCs? Something about them shipping out 5 laptops for the price of one by mistake....

Black Friday sales will give you more for your dollar, but this will be a pretty handy machine when the price drops

Yeah just get a $350 Wink Kidding... this is actually pretty spiffy. But I'm not going to get it - just because I already have a device that fills this niche - a laptop...

As for Mr Smile... "this is a great pc/secondary computer for people who don't do much with computers or need something small and fast to do the basics"

Your saying they should drop more $$ because they don't need all the features the laptop has?
