NewEgg.com has the ASUS VW246H Black 24" 2ms(GTG) HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor for $300 - $20 with coupon code EMCBCAEAB [Exp 12/10] = $280 with free shipping. 1920 x 1080 resolution, 300 cd/m2 Brightness, 1000:1 (ASCR 20000:1) Contrast Ratio, Built in Speakers.
It is TN. Not much bad, but it can not compete with IPS or PVA. When you use this moniter at center, the color around four corner has little gradation because of its viewing angle.
If you want to buy over 24" monitor with TN panel, Please make sure to check them in offline market. You might have no irritation with that.
TN Pros: Cheap price, Good response time, No input lag, Less dead pixels, and it takes almost 90% in market. It is hard to find IPS monitors. Cons: Bad viewing angle (important for over 24"), Bad color expression even though it has good color gamut.
IPS, PVA Pros: Great, Deeper color. Nice viewing angle (178/178), Not bad response time (5ms IPS better than 2ms TN). Cons: EXPENSIVE!!!, Some of them have big input lag, so cannot be used for FPS, Rhythm games (it depends on number of connectivity especially at HDTV Monitors). Some of them have milky way (pearls effect) fault (it emerge on glossy screen), More possibility to have dead pixels.

anyone know how this compares to IPS displays?

I want to have 1920 x 1200 ( I like the height more vs width more)
#3 - 1920 x 1080 vs 1920 x 1200. You don't get 'width more', you get 'width same'.
Now thats a deal
can someone explain TN, IPS, and PVA? Thanks!
#6, bottom line: TN panels are the cheapest panels to make, afaik. They have fast response, but have the worst viewing angles.
good price for a 24"
Rajan,
I really did not mean real width, I meant in terms of pixels and content.
So what is the difference between IPS and PVA then?

i thought asus made mobos?
this looks like a nice monitor
Anyonne know where I can get a 22" with 1920x1200?
If I'm already spending that much for a monitor... I might as well bump it up to one of the quality ones :/. Just my opinion.
Ah. I get it. So when it comes to TN, PVA and IPS, the best choice is plasma.
How does this compare to Samsung 2433BW?
GO with Samsung...you wont be disappoint!
#11 Thanks for the excellent info!
I like Asus mobos but I don't trust them with monitors. For about the same price Samsung is a better choice.
