Amazon has the Autel MaxiScan MS300 OBD-II Code Reader for $20 with free shipping on $25+. Compatible with 1996 and later OBD II-compliant vehicles, reads and displays Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Now you'll know whether you need a new engine or you're just low on wiper fluid.
I have one and it works just fine for me. Very basic unit, reads set and pending codes. You can reset the codes -- turning off the CE light -- but not selectively. "Reset" resets everything.
My understanding [maybe wrong] is that what you are talking about with BT will display engine parameters in m/l real time. This does not do that. When you use this, the engine is not running.
I can't speak to the BMW/Benz question; I've never tried on them. If I could afford a BMW or Benz, I'd be able to afford a fancier scan tool.
I'd look carefully at user reviews for any BT OBD2 adapter before I bought one. I've heard they're not reliable. FWIW.
Anybody have real experience on this unit ? Is the better than bluetooth unit( use Torque Lite on Android ? I manly try to use it with MBZ and BMW..
Thank you in advance for ur help...

You're welcome, in retrospect.
ive had this for 2 years and it works well to read codes and reset SES/CES light.
while you can read codes which the key off, you should turn the key to ACC and read the codes.
All repped! Thank you all for the input...
