Used to be great, now utter bloatware crap. You get better results with MS's security essentials and a random scan with Search & Destroy.
Agree, never had a problem with security essentials....except I use Malwarebytes with it
MSE isn't available for XP-64, so I got this. Haven't noticed its bloat yet. Waiting on rebate, but it has only been a week or two.
I have worked in IT for many years and have used most of the popular AV softwares. I was using MS Security Essentials for awhile on my own computers until I started reading that testing by a national test lab and Consumer Reports rated it at or near the bottom of the list. AVG actually outperformed Security Essentials. I had used the AVG free version for several years prior, and when I switched back to it, it found a virus on my laptop that MSE had missed.
I believe BitDefender and Avira were the top rated for pay types, but AVG rated good also and often cost less. My personal experience with Norton has been terrible because it has caused many crashes and startup problems that required removal of Norton to cure. YMMV
agree with the Norton statement had read that Norton "wraps" around a visus and will mess up you computer happened to me deleted it and installed AVG full protection program AVG free edition will not properly protect you IMHO
