any word on if this is decent or not?
It's an ethernet switch. How good or bad can it be??
I have about 50 of these deployed in my offices across the southeast and they work great! however, they are cheaper at mwave...
#2 there are plenty of ways to make an Ethernet switch badly.
Cheap/poor reliability parts that cause the unit to fail early.
Inadequately designed power supply that causes bit errors in the switch.
Cheap RJ45 connectors that fail after a few insertions.
Crappy front end design that can't handle long (or perhaps very short) cable lengths.
Inadequate buffer memory for store-and-forward in the switch (dropped packets under load).
Poor PB design that causes internal interference. (assuming here that they actually did the FCC testing they claim so there is no external interference or EMI susceptibility)
I'm not saying this unit has any of those problems. I'm just saying, there are many ways to fail. The above list is just a sample...
I bought a couple Azio drive enclosures. Same model, different colors, purchased two months apart. Both died after 6 months of use. I wouldn't buy Azio products again...
