Say what you will about the price, but free shipping is nice. I have one and I love it. Lots of free books and specials all the time.

How does this line up against the Kindle 2?

I thought it was funny seeing this on here after going up to my local B&N to check it out. After looking at it I couldn't help but get distracted by the glossy bezel. the second touch screen at the bottom is kinda goofy and also seems like it is not needed, but added it since its color and touch since they could add it

The prices on these things are still a bit high but non-tech types seem to like 'em anyway. My wife got one and loves it. I'd rather have books on my phone since it's the only thing I carry around. Mobipocket.com works and now there's a kindle for blackberry.

Kindle 2 = Fail. When comparing it to the nook.

My wife is an avid reader and after a lengthy period of deliberation chose the Kindle 2.

The 2nd navigation screen on the Nook seems kind of goofy and unnecessary. The Kindle is thinner and lighter which was a big deal to my wife. The Kindle also seemed faster. What it really came down to was the selection of books - Kindle had more of the types of books my wife wanted (holistic medicine, nutrition and that hippie voodoo kind of stuff.)

I think they're both over-priced and need to come down to $75-$100.

my wife has both the nook and kindle.

ben has it on the list because its been sold out for a while.

advantages of the nook. you can add more memory or change out battery if its dead.

kindle. is actually lighter and easier to hold.

    to each his own...

The NOOK has one big advantage above the rest, its fully hackable to install Android OS. Possibilities are endless. Even if someday ATT puts a stop to the free cellular internet access.
