I have one of these and although all of these FM transmitters are basically crapola it works as well as any I have used. If your in a metro area with congested spectrum it won't work all that well but out in the country it works pretty well.
Ya I bought one about 2 years ago and after like 10 / 15 mins it messed up from overheating.
I looked into FM transmitters a couple of years ago, found the Coby CA-745 product (Google it) to be highly rated. Bought one, and it sounds great with very little added noise. I run mine at 87.9, but you can pick any frequency you want and the digital display remembers it. About $18.
