Even if they port Android to this, it's not worth more than $100 because it will some buggy-as-hell ROM. The majority of third party ROMS have at least a few problems.

Actually RIM is working on the Android portion now, for the 2.0 update. They are trying to entice developers by giving away a Playbook for those who qualify.

"There are some obvious requirements, including that you be a registered BlackBerry App World developer and convert your Android app with a submittal to the BB App World between 2 February and 13 February. Visit the Runtime for Android apps page to see how you can repackage your Android app for the BlackBerry PlayBook.

@techsupport and so many others don't "get" the appeal of this tablet, and it's fine. Most people just regurgitate comments they read on tech blogs. For those who carry a blackberry (about a third of the corporate world), you can utilize a secure, encrypted 'bridge' through the serial port profile (bluetooth) which gives you the ability to access your phone's email, contacts, notes, bbm, etc but most importantly...web browsing on the Playbook without the need of an additional 3g/4g plan OR tethering plan. That along with front and rear cameras and a browser with flash support make the tablet unique. Most people would not want to port to an Android OS since they would lose this bridge support, in fact. OS 2.0 includes support for Android apps. Is it perfect? No. But it's a lot cheaper than my Transformer Prime or an Ipad. I tested the 64gb version for my agency in a pilot program and just roll my eyes when I read things said by people that have never touched one.
