I was taking this stuff and gained a bit of weight, but it was all in the gut. I worked out with free weights at least 3-4 times a week, and had muscle growth as well, but it was hidden by the fat layer. Once I stopped using this stuff, I lost 10 pounds but the muscle stayed behind. I think it's better to just work out and eat sensibly.

#1 were you taking it with milk or water? If you mix it with milk your going to gain weight. I am on my 3rd can of it and it did not cause me to gain weight.

Add calories of mix plus drink, subtract calories from additional exercise and higher muscle mass. For most people it isn't hard to find areas in your diet to cut calories a bit and have a net gain in protein consumed with a protein mix, you can just cut down on sugar and fat and that'll usually more than make up for the difference.

As directed it's 140 calories per scoop per day, plus 85 calories from skim milk = 225. That's less than 2 x 12oz cans of soft drink, it still leaves over 2500 calories in the average, active young male's diet for 3 or 4 square meals.

#1, I have to wonder about the time of year you were taking it. The entire can is only 2 lbs, it would be impossible to gain more than 2 lb from it alone, and there are 27 scoops per container. Factoring in that digestion is not 100% efficient, if you figure it would take 5+ cans to gain 10 lbs, that's 5 x 27 scoops, almost 5 months. It seems like a period long enough that other factors could come into play like the differences in activity level from summer vs winter or a different job, new hobby or girlfriend, etc.
