At first I was like "Arg, 440 baconnaise steel." Then after some fat, basement dweller research, it turns out not to be the case. 440C is the better of the 440 steels and is harder than D2 steel. However, the wooden handle and leather sheath don't make it ideal for survival and hunting applications. These materials don't hold up to the elements as well as synthetics would. Nice looking knife tho.
Well, Jim Bowie's knife was a southern made spanish steel knife, so I guess it's close enough. It's a nice lookin knife, but it don't look like any Bowie I've seen.
