Sams Club has the Bose Companion 2 Series II Multimedia Speaker System for $60 with free shipping. Features 2 x satellite speaker, 3.5mm stereo headphone jack.
I agree it is overpriced, but it is still cheaper by about $40 here. It doesn't have a sub and you can't "rock out" with it, but there are worse speakers on the market.
Bought the Bose radio/CD player. Overpriced & underfeatured. Wish I had my money back. The radio in my truck has twice as many presets. With the Bose you can not set the FM frequency so you can not tune into a weak station, it just skips over it. The CD player does not remember the track you were playing if you shut it off and then power up. My truck player remembers.
I have concluded that Bose gets by on snob appeal. I will never buy another Bose product. I am not a yuppy. I do not believe that "I am what I consume". Also, "I am not an animal" - grin.
I've been a bose basher for quite a long time, yet whenver I passed by the bose aisles I had always thought to myself that they were bad no doubt but did not sound as bad as people described them to be.. until one day I heard those 2.1 speakers connected to an external source! ( This was at target) -and boy they sounded like trash! Decent bass accuracy but ridiculously UGLY mids and treble. I found it hard to believe there was ANY reasearch behind these garbage cans! This led me to go back to scrutinize those Bose recordings - I then realized that they always played tracks pre-tuned for their crappy products, with not more than one or two instruments at one time so the instruments seem "separate" and "spatial". They always play highs and lows, like train sounds, rain, bass drums, birds chirping etc.. things that sound decent on any speaker set. Their vocal tracks are resampled to sound more articulate ( just like Sirius/Xm radio does ) . Sadly, people who don't know the first thing about audio dote on Bose..my point being, take any speaker set and turn it up loud, people will exclaim WOW! Now take a speaker with a fancy case and packaging and turn it up loud - you have a buyer. Shell out the extra bucks and buy these instead - they are at least 5x better sounding http://www.amazon.com/Harman-SoundStickbaconI-Multimedia-Speaker/dp/B0001DBEM4/ref=s11?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1281166151&sr=8-1
You guys all missing a point... Is that this speaker is a 2.0 system, meaning it does NOT have a SUB-WOOFER. When you compare, or making suggestions, please use a 2 speakers system.
A system with Sub Woofer will usually sound better, but they take more space, and more wiring mess. Some buyers would like to have decent sound without a Sub.
weak shiznit. don't buy this cr@p. No sub? pas
Agreed!
Way over priced.
Bose needs to make a PC comparable price system for the masses.

Over priced becasue all of the above said so.
With the exception that I AM an animal...
When I see "Bose". I pass the "deal".
Bose speakers are way over-rated! Approach it with care to save future despair!
Misleading info and picture. This is the old version of the Bose campanion.
Don't understand why #4 didn't get his money back. It has a return period.
