You'd have to be a real dumbbell to pay this much.

you can always tell who the weak nerds who stay at home are *cough#1. If you ever went to the gym in your life, which I HIGHLY doubt, you would learn that you can work out virtually the whole upper body with dumbbells. now you could buy individual pairs but then you'll have a collection of over 20 pairs as you grow stronger. and to the rodeo cowboy that say OMG YOU ONLY NEED 1 SET im going to say that you guys have never worked out and you use different weights for different parts of the body. you can do dumbell presses with 70's+ but try curling that. my point is this is a good deal for someone who wants to work out at home.

The 552's are also on sale if you don't need up to 90lbs. Use coupon code D4PFSE1 on 552's to knock them down to ~$240 w/ free shipping. I picked up these 1090's a couple weeks back when they were on sale and I recommend grabbing some lifting gloves. The handles on these things aren't comfortable.

A hint to those who don't get it yet.

Lots of dumbells allow you to adjust the weight. You don't need 20 pairs, only to change the weight of the few sets you have as your progress merits it.

#2, just lift your adjustable wench. Start with her 10lb fingers and work your way up to her 90lb legs. If you outgrow her weight, just remove the padlock from your fridge. Oh, and you'd have to be a real dumbbell to pay this much.

Yeesh, #2 is full of weak sauce. You can't curl 70 lbs?

Oh, and this is a fairly reasonable deal until you realize that some moron probably already bought these and is selling them at a highly discounted rate on Craigslist.

Curling is a d-bag exercise anyway. It has no functional use in real life unless you're literally curling a cardboard box because it's moving day. Otherwise you'll be using your back, legs, shoulders, etc 10x more.

On that note, these dumbbells can be useful if space is a concern. Having 10-90 pound dumbbells in 10 pound increments can really take up a lot of space. And if you want the maximal progressive strength increases, you're going to need to go up by 5-10 pounds as you advance. You can't just skip 20-30 pounds when you feel like you want to move up.

Actually I picked up a similar set on Craigslist for $80, and I can curl much more than 70 lbs. Granted, I understand the posters around here have trouble curling a 2 liter of soda.

#10, guys that can curl "much more" than 70lbs are almost always big fat guys that are repulsive to women. Put the weights down for a while and hit the treadmill buddy, no one cares what you can deadlift if you haven't seen your abs since you were 13.
