Bowflex has the Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells for $399 - $160 off with coupon code DAY5A [Exp 5/20] = $239 with free shipping. Weights adjust from 5 to 52.5 lbs (2.5 lb increments the first 25 lbs).
For the money, I'd rather have a set of dumbells from 2.5 lbs to 50 lbs. That way more than one person can exercise at the same time.
If space is an issue, I'd rather get a set of resistance bands with detachable grips. It would be harder to chart my progress, but the exercise would be pretty similar. Oh, and it would be a hell of a lot cheaper than these.
^ these are for people who think that technology rather than work is the key to a better body. Not that it isn't, but for best results it takes both but the latter far more than the former.
I think the price is high, but if you have been using weight training long enough to know you will stick with it, over many years of use the cost per year isn't bad. However it seems that a $240 set ought to have a higher max weight, 2.5lb increments don't seem very necessary compared to that.
#1 I gotta disagree. I have a pair of these and gave up my long rack of weights from 5-45lbs. Not only do these save space, it was WAY cheaper than buying 10 sets of dumbbells from 2.5-50lbs. I don't understand your logic at all.
^ but did you "really" need 10 sets to span this weight range? Most people would just do a few more or a few less reps at the nearest weight they have and get by with fewer sets. Granted that only works to a limited extent, you still have to stay in a certain range for the same effect.
