The Sports Authority has the Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells and Stand for $350 with free shipping. Change the weight of each dumbbell at the turn of a dial, switching from 5lbs to 52.5 lbs. [BizRate]
I have had these for more than two years, and like them alot. However, if you are the type who likes to drop dumbbells, and go all workout macho. These are NOT for you. They certainly take up very little space compared to a full dumbbell set.
I have something simlar to these but made by a different brand. They're actually really useful for the typical home workout enthusiast. Purchasing individual dumbells from 5 to 50 pounds would not only take up a ton of space, but would cost way more than $350. That's why they price these so high, not because they cost $350 to make, but because the alternative would cost more. Anyways, for most people 50 lb per hand is enough. Obviously the more advanced weight lifter needs more.
Reebok makes something similar to this in a chrome finish. They can be had at Target for about sixty bucks a set. Actually very nice and much cheaper than these. I doubt most amateurs would notice any difference. Save yourselve's the $230.00 people.
That's at least 7 month gym membership and all you get is a pair of dumbbells.

I use #4 as a pair of dumbbells.
I use #3 as a pair of... oh, darn!
darn? wtf?
#5 don't be hatin'
Paying $350 for these ??? You'd have to be one of them...
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks $350 for dumbbells is expensive. I'd rather buy a PS3 with that, and just for the Blu-Ray player.
it's just that $350 won't get u a ps3...
These dumbbells do save space if you have a small workout area.
I agree that the money would be better spent on a gym membership. Besides, 52.5 lbs is really pus$y weight.
I use 85-100lbs in each hand for dumbbell presses at the gym, so these would only be good for flys.
No, I am not some sort of fat ass. I actually only weigh about 200 lbs.
Wow... you are really cool and so sexy strong... we are all so jealous...
Too bad you're only five feet tall.
Actually, I am 6 feet tall. 200 lbs is not really overweight for my height.
Any of you geeks able to lift more than your PC monitor?
"able to life more" WTF? If you are trying to type LIFT, I lift people for a living.
Who do you lift for a living? What are you, a smurf wrestler or something?
I'm a nurse
with his boner.
lol to #17
