How would a Netflix streaming movie look at 1 Mbs Verizon DSL?

I'm still waiting for U-verse to come into my neighborhood. It's funny, I live in one of the more affluent towns, yet the low-rent town next door has had it for 2 years now.

I'm also waiting for u-verse. Everyone I know that has it is very pleased with it. Its already in my town but I suspect my short, lightly populated street won't be getting it anytime soon.

What's Road Runner High Speed's Mbps speed for the 35$ package? Is it better than AT&T's DSL Elite($35) 6Mbps?

I called Comcast and asked them to lower my internet rate to promotion rate and they blew me away acting like they have no competitor. The customer server girl even raise her voice and almost tell me to shut up since they are the best. I am sick of all those additional cable add on in order to get a low rate.

I am looking for a alternative and call them again to disconnect my service. Or I will just terminate service under my name and set up a new line with my wife's name.

Any idea how to fight this devil ?

#1, not great. I had 1.5Mbps cable for a while and would get the second out of four possible qualities (five if you count HD as the fifth) on a Roku box, and 6 out of 10 bars on a TiVo. At 3Mbps, I get best quality almost all the time.

I'm near boston as well...simply say a few things

    1) if it's on the cable just say you have offers from direct tv and dishnetwork

    2) for the internet contact some isp's if they have wireless..
