The thing I hate most about Verizon DSL is all the FCC, line, extended recover, 911, and more FEES they tag onto the $30 price tag. Roadrunner costs a few bucks more but at least they don't fee me to death.

What comcast means by "free Motorola cable modem" is that they'll charge you a rental fee for it until you call and spend 20 minutes on hold/arguing about your bill. If you want the rental fee you paid on your first bill credited to your account, they'll say they'll do that but won't.

#3, you are an rodeo cowboy!
It isn't even from Comcast, its comcastoffers.com aka broadbandoffers.com. Totally not even part of Comcast. If you chose to rent a modem from Comcast (for a monthly fee, which they tell you, and you sign for) it is as simple as giving it back to them and buying one.

FYI if you use these people look them up a bit first, follow their rebate instructions to a tee, and send them certified mail. Its a bit of work, but so worth the money you are saving!

#5, you are an rodeo cowboy. I think it was fairly clear that I bought the modem, never rented one, but was charged a rental fee anyway. That comcast outsourced the setup is irrelevant. And since you only have 1 post, I'm guessing you created a new account just to say that? bite me.
