Again, nothing about Charter. I've had Internet and cable service since 2001 (East TN) and have had great service, they have upgraded cable channels and basic Internet speed package is now 3Mb/s. Yes they have raised their rates (over 8 years there has been about $5 per year increase), yet I saved over $40 a month by dropping land line and adding Charter telephone, free long distance 24/7, VM, other calling features. I have AT&T DSL and it has worked OK also but it is a business line for my job, limited web surfing.

No Verizon FIOS yet, I know fiber would be so cool, but as long as there is limited competition in our area I go with what works best for me.

I just went through the Verizon website to get their 'deal'. I wasted about an hour and a half to get nowhere. I already have Verizon internet at a $25.99 price and wanted the $18 deal but all I got was a run-around. If I had a better choice then Verizon or Charter I would just dump them. All I wanted was a lower price for my internet and they wanted to sell me a big package deal with a different price everytime the screen refreshed. I quite!!

Their prices are pretty craptacular. Considering what little they're offering it ought to cost $20/mo. for 5Mb/512Kb indefinitely, not for a limited time, without needing to bundle with any other service.

Eventually all that freed up spectrum from our analog tv abandonment will allow cheap if not free wifi, I guess they're trying to milk the cow one last time before it stays in the pasture.
