I think that Staples just had this for $9 after rebate (and their rebates are trouble free).
Yeah, last week in fact
Fax machines are actually more handy now than a few years ago as few PCs come with modems. Every once in a while I try to explain to someone that I can send them an encrypted PDF file they can just print and I can almost hear the blank stare.
Post deleted by Ben out of spite.
This fax machine uses once-through ribbons to print. The ribbons appear to deteriorate quickly. Unless you receive fax and replace ribbons frequently, the fax quality would become unreliable. In fact I have just boxed up the fax machine for donation. I have replaced it with a laser AIO. Although the AIO was a lot more expensive, it's a lot more reliable.
There are also online fax services for a fee.
The ink cartridge dried out in my fax machine, and I have no intention of replacing it. Can still send out faxes, though.
Bought a replacement ribbon online; came wound wrong side out. Some bargain. After a few months, this puppy would feed outgoing faxes halfway and stall. Bad luck all around. Not even worth giving it away.
