Yes, let me be the first to comment on this one. I bought one from Staples for 50 bucks a couple weeks ago. This printer is a very good basic printer. So far, it does a good job printing single-sided black and white. It does not print double-sided, nor does it have color (just so we're clear). After some calculations, each page comes down to about 2-3 cents per page (averaging the cost of toner, drum, and paper). The manual feeder takes some getting used to. It's not a very well-thought out feature. What is impressive about this printer is that it managed to print on 9 lb onion skin paper, although the first sheet did get jammed the first time through. I was pretty surprised and impressed that it did not have the tendency of feeding in multiple sheets of paper at one time, which my past HP inkjets seemed to always do. Of course, the paper itself may also have had something to do with it. If anyone is interested, it's just about the thinnest and lightest paper around. I got it from Paper Mill Store. Google it. Also, I use Linux, and this printer has no problem on Linux. Finally, word on the street is that even when the toner says it's out, it's not really out. Put a piece of opaque tape over the toner window that reveals how much ink is left, and you are allowed to print till the toner runs dry. Haven't actually tried it, but it seems like that may squeeze quite a couple more pages out. Enough rambling. Good printer. Recommended.
+1 check out the reviews on newegg and amazon- they're all great.
Good printer- too bad my old brother Hl-1440s,H-5450 refuse to die....
BTW, the printer has been under $50 several times- if you were not in rush, you can wait...
#1, great review, thank you.
Watch for it to go on sale at staples and go over to ejunkie or ebay and get you a 20 off 50 coupon and pick one up for about $50-$20+$2=roughly $35 after everything and taxes.
