Have this and it is pretty good. The WiFi is a pain to install (and I am an IT professional). Once set, it is fine. Do not change anything when it is set, you will regret it.
I, too, have this, and agree that it's a nice printer. I disagree that the wireless was hard to configure, but I'm merely a Network Administrator and not an IT Professional. I'm only using 128-bit WEP and MAC filtering on my wireless network, and #1 may be doing something more extravagant.
To configure the wireless, I first plugged the printer into my wired network, checked my DHCP server to see what IP address was assigned to the printer, used my web browser to connect to that address, configured the printer's wireless settings (and added the printer's wireless MAC address to the allowed hosts on my router), disconnected the Ethernet wire from the printer, and was able to connect to the static IP address that I assigned to the printer's wireless interface. I then installed the appropriate driver on my PCs and was able to print.
Oh, and the HL-2170W is often on sale for quite a bit less than $100. This isn't really a deal.
They BEST Jerry, The BEST!
Uma Jerry! Uma!
I bought this as my interim printer while we're moving. Print goods. Love the wifi.
