I don't know anything about Brother's refurbished printers, but I bought a new HL-2170W about 15 months ago and like it a lot. Wireless setup was easy and the print quality is very nice. I print something every couple of days and the printer has never had problems, been unresponsive or lost its wireless connection, or required rebooting.
I use this printer with Windows and with CUPS on Linux. It works great in both, but earlier versions of CUPS did not have a specific setup for the HL-2170W and you had to choose something similar like a HL-2070. Recent versions of CUPS has the HL-2170W as a listed printer.
Rebates suck, but this printer is definitely worth $51 if Brother's refurbished products are dependable.
i also have this printer and i love it bought it one and a half year ago... printer is still working like a champ....
Yep, same here. Got it new and only have good things to say about it!
10-4 GREAT PRINTERS!!!! I may buy one, (toner cartridge replacement)
Brother makes crap.
The same experience - EXCELLENT printer easy set up. Follow the instructions from Brother's support website and you will be just fine.
don't buy printer instead of toner; you only get trial toner with these new printers. you can get high yeild toner on ebay for dirt cheap!
what's the price for the toners of this printer?
I wouldn't buy this refurbished, it's enough to maintain one new. I generally like it, except for the paper jams.
I bought a refurbed brother printer, it works fine, and it even has windows 7 drivers
