I've had one of these for almost a year and been very pleased with it. For a while some were bundling an extra paper tray, it would be nice to be able to load a full ream of paper rather than a half ream. Combination of ethernet and built-in Postscript clone makes this printer very easy to use from Unix. Also very good Macintosh support. Still waiting on 3rd party toner refills to appear on the market. Toner provided is said to be good for 3,000 pages, toner light came on at 2,000 very full pages. I shake the cartridge and out goes the light. Still prints as good as new.

I too have this and have nothing bad to say about it. I think it would make a great small office printer or for a home with more then one computer. I guess if I had to say something bad about it, it would be 1200x1200 is just a bit small for really crisp graphics, but since I only print text I haven't run into this as a problem. And besides who prints B&W graphics.

Same story here -- I got this printer at CostCo with an extra paper tray, but it was $260. The printer warms up instantly, which is nice and the two-sided printing is great, although it's kind of odd to watch a sheet come out, get sucked back in, and come out again.

    I have two nits:

    1) I haven't been able to print normal size 10 envelopes with the manual feeder without it creasing the envelopes. They're a bit mangled-looking but good enough to go in the mail and the stamps.com printed-postage is fine (it's usually the other end that gets crunched). I'm using plain paper envelopes and might have better luck with envelopes designed for laser printers but I have a couple thousand of these and don't want to waste them. Brother told me to mess with the thickness/heat settings -- I did that, but it didn't make much difference.

    2) it makes odd ticking noises after it prints, as it's cooling down. Almost sounds like something is stuck to the drum as it turns, but the drum looks fine. I wrote to Brother and they said the noise was normal. Anyone else have this problem.

    Anyway, I'd buy it again.
