Through March 14th, EyeBuyDirect is celebrating its 5th anniversary by having a Buy One Get One Free offer on any prescription eyewear. Discount reflected in cart. Eyeglasses with standard prescription lenses start at $8 and shipping is $6.
There's a really great site that offers fantastic prices for prescription eyeglass lenses. I got some single vision lenses ($25 for plastic CR39)and added a custom tint ($12) at www.replacementlensexpress.com. I e-mailed the optician at info@replacementlensexpress.com and described EXACTLY what I wanted. They were so friendly and responsive, and the lenses were made in Connecticut- much higher quality than lenses I've order online elsewhere (most places, like Zenni, send out overseas for manufacturing, and it really shows in the poor workmanship and quality). Check out their prices and then contact them to discuss your custom order. Oh, and they can get you any eyeglass frame you want as well- you just have to ask, cause they focus on the lenses on the site and don't really show too many frame options.
There's a great discount right now too - You can get HALF PRICED additional prescription lens features, such as "UV Absorption Coating" and "Scratch-Resistant Coating." They are each usually priced at $25 but this month only (March 2011) they are each $12.50. Check it out! (The website doesn't show this at all, but when you e-mail their sales rep, you can apply it to your order.)
not much of a sunglass selection
If you don't care about polarized lenses you can turn any of them into sunglasses with the darkest tint, just specify zeros on the prescription form.
are there glasses good?
