Interpolated resolution is like digital zoom -- hardware resolution is what counts.
Great scanner, good deal, though the 300-series is out now. The included software sucks, but using free software like infranview is an easy way around that. The 200 is more than enough for occasional scans or even scanning a photo album or two worth of pictures in a sitting (easily 100+ an hour). Also has no power brick (draws directly from the USB) which is very nice.
A feature I like about this scanner is the ability to scan sevral pictures at once(as many that will fit neatly on the platen) and bring them into your touchup program (photoshop.
That technology probably has been out there for a while, but it was my first time seeing/using it.
#3 - the function you descirbe can be found in Photoshop under Automate/Crop & Strighten Photos and should work with any scanned image.
canon lide are good scanners. i use older models. compact, usb powered.
By my calculations a full scan of an 8.5 x 11 inch page at 19200dpi would come out 19200*19200*8.5*11*48/8/1000 = 207 GBytes and take more than an hour to transfer over the 480Mbit/sec USB2 connection. At 4800dpi it would be 13GBytes
