Is dell in trouble? They seem to be selling stuff lately at a steep discount.

burp Dell ships soooo slowly these days. I canceled my last two orders with them because of the delays. Additionally, they screwed me on a rebate. Dell gets none of my business now.

Great deal. Not gonna find something that takes better pictures for less than that.

arghhhhh!! i jumped all over this... i was actually eyeing the rebel xt for $449 on amazon... but today, basically for the same price, i'm getting the xti.. i dont care its last year's model.. cause if i wanted this year's model, i'd be paying $700 for a camera.. i'm paying $450 for one that's 10mp.. i won't be blowing up any pictures bigger than 8x10 so this is a great camera for me... woohoo!!

if u get the body and lens separate.. for the same lens and body.. it would cost you $75 more... so i would say.. get the kit...

#6 - If you enjoy being disappointed or plan on taking mediocre photos, get the kit.

Better feature set than the Nikon D40x. Nikon is good, but Nikon cripples the D40 series, unlike Canon who does not on the Rebel XT series.

And do not get the kit lens, it's junk. Take your money and put it towards a better lens.

I got the $319 deal. However when I log on and checked out, it's become $489.

      No deal.

This terrible. I'd got it and lost it.

Several companies are selling this camera for $319. It seems to be the new price designed to clear it out. I don't remember this camera having image stabilization, otherwise I would consider it. I don't generally carry a tri-pod with me on vacations or while hiking, so the IS is a key feature.
Canon and Nikon put IS in the lens, not the body. Pentax/Samsung and Sony (formerly Minolta) put IS in the body.

Canon and Nikon have brought their IS lens prices down, so you an get a decent, entry-level, IS stablized lens for less now.

#11, bacon, links or I call your "several companies" selling at that price bullshit. Or are you talking about the bait&switch shops? in that case, you are a dumb turd.
