Ken-rock-for-brain is a burp rodeo cowboy. Search for his name in any photography forums and you will see why. If you are too lazy, here's a couple: photo.net, fredmiranda.com.
The burp even admitted that he lied about writing reviews for gear that he didn't even see after being exposed by several people on these forums.
I despite asshats like him whom lives by scamming newbies
Yeah, I thought it was rather pathetic for him to quote such.

Also, any review that begins with a camera purchased at Ritz or the other, common retail stores should be suspect. Nikon has dropped mega-bucks into marketing, 3x Canon, and that drives a lot of their reviews.

The Nikon D40[x] popularity is the result of two things ...
      1. The Nikon brand name (a good one for the majority of their other lines)
      2. Marketing, marketing and, literally, more marketing

The Nikon D40[x] is junk. If you feel the Canon Rebel series is too plastic, then that doesn't mean you go D40. Consider a better Nikon, they make great cameras. If that is not an option, both Pentax and Sony make some nice, rock-solid bodies which is required for their in-body IS.

I've known several people who have dropped their Pentax K100D/K10D units and they survived thanx to their stainless steel inner body.

I'm no expert nor was I around when Canon switched from MF to AF but to clarify what deathrider said in #18 what Canon did with the Auto Focus lens actually give them a competitive advantage because Canon's AF performed better as a result. And ultimately moving the AF motor to the lens is what everyone is doing now anyway. Just look at the D40/60 series. I think some people still use what happened to hold a grudge against Canon and I can understand that but I don't think new users needs to be overly concerned with what happened.
