Amazon has the Canon EF 50mm f1.4 USM Standard and Medium Telephoto Lens (2515A003) for $339 with free shipping. Features extra-small Micro USM focus adjustment and full-time manual focusing.
f/1.4 to f/1.8 is less than one stop. And yes, it's worth it. The extra money buys you a metal mount (vs. plastic), 8-blade aperture (vs. 5), Micro USM (vs. Micro Motor), and overall better image quality.
The Sigma is sharper at 1.4 but also has MUCH better bokeh. The falloff is pretty bad at wide open on the canon as well, even with lens correction it still leaves much darker corners than the sig uncorrected. I had the canon, tried the sig on a friends rig, then sold my canon and bought the sig. The images pop with the sig, the focus ring is much smoother, and at the very least, there is a lot more glass on the sig which makes your peen feel bigger :p
Good price but the Sigma 50mm is a much sharer at f/1.4-2.0 than the Canon.
bhphoto has for the same price
wow are those 2 stops really worth another $200 over the 50mm f/1.8
