Dell has the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens for $90 with free shipping. This is a best-value prime lens for your Canon SLR that is both very fast and very sharp. It is often referred to as the 'nifty fifty.'
This is a great portrait lens for a DSLR. If your just shooting with a kit lens you'll be amazed at how your photos taken with a prime just "pop" off the page. I wish they have a <30mm f1.8 at a similar price....
#1 - this hasn't been $80 on amazon for a while.. as a matter of fact, most camera parts and accessories have been going up in price. The cheapest I saw it on amazon the other day was $101
#2, the f/1.4 will also give you tons more light and the ability to shoot in lower light. If you REALLY want to spend a lot but get an amazing lens, check out the 80mm f/2 Simply amazing, especially for concerts, etc.
#4, agreed... you also get the same effect by using some of Canon's L lenses. I have the 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS, and the 24-105mm f/4 L IS, and they're both amazing... The 2.8 is scary sharp... But you pay for the quality. The 28mm f/1.8 is great, although, not cheap at ~$500ish. If wider is what you want, perhaps you should consider a full frame body, such as the 5D?
This lens pretty much doesn't leave my cam. Footzooming old skool film style. I loath flash photography so this was a perfekt fit for me. It weights practically nothing, on a Digital Rebel paired up together weighs damn near nothing.
This lens typically sales for 80 to 90 bucks on Amazon and other vendors. Warm at best
However this is a stellar lens!
Agree. Stellar portrait lens. Go with f 1.4 for an even more reduced depth of field but lots more $.
This is a "normal" lens for 35mm but telephoto for digital.

the small digital takes away a lot of the depth effect. You need a big apeture to compensate this and sure the lens are costly.
I got one a few months ago for slightly above $80, can't say this one is a fantastic deal. This lens is a must-have, though.
#6 Any thoughts on a fast 20mm-100mm range IS zoom? Looking for low light and sharp....
I got mine for cheaper from Amazon. Very good portrait lens for very cheap.
Great lens! Wait 'till you take a picture of food. It will make people drool. It works great on 1.6 crop and full frame. Best low price lens ever!

Don't know why they changed to plastic mount. The I has a metal.
