Dell has the the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens for $90 with free shipping. This is a best-value prime lens for your Canon SLR that is both very fast and very sharp. It is often referred to as the 'nifty fifty'. [Compare]

This is not a bad price for what it's been selling at lately, but $70 is what you could have gotten this for about 1 year ago.

This become 80mm with Canon's x1.6 conversion factor for APS sized sensor. I wonder whether the prespective is the same as 50mm or not.

#4 the lens doesn't "become" 80mm. The lens has a physical focal length of 50mm, and there is nothing that you can do to change that! An APS-C sensor camera will have a a narrower FOV, compared to a 35mm sensor camera, but the focal length of any lens does not ever change.

Gotta love the "Last year it cost..." and "Two years ago I only paid..." comments. That was then. This is now.

great optics for the price, build is fragile, so be careful with it. #5 is correct, a 50 is a 50 no matter the body. 1.6 croppers will only get the sweet center area relative to a full frame. still a fine little lens. you'll pay near $350 for canon's 50/1.4, better build, but the cheap nifty-fifty (aka plastic-fantastic) still holds its own. IMO this lens is far, far better than the kit 18-55. but be warned: it's a gateway drug. you'll end up pennyless with a ton of great images.

wow, i didn't realize this lense was that cheap at one point. I waited for about a year for a significant price drop on this thing ...but ultimately opted for the f/1.4 version instead (need the durability). The 1.2 is awesome, but probably not worth the extra $1k for most.

#5, I was comparing the lens perspective of APS sensor or 35mm sensor. When it said 50mm physical, then it is 50mm for 35mm sensor.

But if it is used in a cheap DSLR with APS sized sensor like T1i etc, it has a conversion factor of 1.6x (others brands are most 1.5x).

When this lens is used in a DSLR with 35mm sensor, it is 50mm. For a Canon APS sensor, it is 80mm (Perspective-wise).
