I still like the last deal better : 7D+ 18-135mm Lens for $1299. However mine come in a 7D kit box for 7D+ 28-135mm combo but swap the 28-135mm lens with 18-135mm Lens. 7D+ 18-55mm IS is not a standard combo from Canon so you might experience the same situation as I do. Just for your reference.

Last time it is total 100 camera set on sale - not sure how many this time.

BTW, there are some rumor about the next generation 7D ( maybe 70D or 7D Mark II ??) will come this fall. You might be interested.

As Nikon D3200 released- the 24.2mp entry level D3200 might give Canon a big hit @ MP Count war. Let's wait and see how Canon react.. Smile

Spend that much and use a 18-135 lens? You guys need to learn some stuff about camera before spending money on things you dont know anything about..

Its not about megapixel count but glass quality which = image quality.. Spend all you want on the body but if you dont have the glass then why bother? the 18-135 is crap..

#3 : Agree 18-135mm is no comparison to L lens. But I do think it is better than 18-55MM right ? And I don't think it is that bad like " crap " ?
www.bobatkins.com has list 18-135mm lens as one of the "Best lenses for Canon EOS under around $600" and rate it very close to Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0L USM, Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM and Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM. Those lens are known to be pretty good, aren't they ?

Big MP count is not very critical compared with quality - but it's nice to have so user can have more freedom to crop their photo.

For an all purpose travel lens, the 18-135mm is not crap at all. Matter of fact it's the best that you can get imo. What's the alternative? 24-105L? Not as wide or long, and no where the small size and light weight of the 18-135mm. If I was to travel light, I would bring the 18-135 and a 50 1.4 or a 28 1.8 as a 2 lenses kit. Why would one want to use the 18-55 on a 7D, that's the real question. You're basically buying the lens to sell.

#3 Who said these people's motivation is "the megapixel count" and why assume people can't purchase other lenses or already have them?
I use kit lenses when I go to the beach or other hazardous places. This way I don't care if the lens gets damaged considering I get to use the camera at these locations. And I don't think it's "crap"
Not to mention L series lenses are exponentially more expensive. And are they exponentially better?
In most cases, I'd say no.

My 7D came with 28-135mm USM but I ended paired it with the Canon 17-55/2.8 ($1000) and I really like it.
The 2.8 lens is very fast and sharp but quite heavy.
I am thinking about buying the 18-135mm so I can travel light.
