Got it for $670 at Amazon.com last Friday, and it's hard not find this for $690 at half a dozen stores. So, why does Ben highlight a $700 deal at Abes of Maine? Because he's their bitch, that's why.
Indeed, wish I'd gone for Amazon. I'll wait for December 26th.
You can get this kit and the "Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS Telephoto Zoom Lens" From Amazon for $789 Right now. The lens is usually $270, but when you buy both they take $200 off.
The trick is when you search for both items you need make sure both are coming from Amazon. (The discount will not apply unless they are both from Amazon) If the page you are on does not say Amazon after "Ships from and sold by" you need to select the "20 new" and find Amazon. The zoom lens is not typically in stock and they will say it takes a month before it ships, but it takes just a few extra days. I ordered mine and it said I was going to get the lens December 28'th it took a whole extra 2 days after my camera shipped for the extra lens to ship.
NOTE: You will not see the discount until you go the very last step in ordering.

this is on ebay for 680 with 10% CB, final price 612.
I would be careful ordering this on ebay. There are many black market canons on there.
Thanks #3 Moetop, I ordered one set for 789. Both will ship on Dec. 07th
No deal, Canon sucks, get the God intended Nikon
i got the D-5000 over this
"Canon sucks, get the God intended Nikon"
I don't this god picked Nikon over any other camera maker. It's not like Nikon is the tall, handsome, rich, smart, and have big spoons and bowls to eat ice cream with all day long then of the digicam world.
Best value I continue to recommend is the Pentax K20D which is around $500. It dropped this fall because the K7D came out earlier in the year. The K7D is smaller while having the same (plus additional features), but the older K20D is quite a capable unit for the price.
#7 Can you please be specific in what area canon sucks? Let's face it, this is not a professional camera, all it has is a few manual modes. Speaking of nikon, this model is equivalent to D90. Hmm is there a price difference? im sure there is.
About this deal, it sucks!
I got mine from costco for 850.
here is what was included:
- 2 lens (55-250 and 18-55)
- case (very nice one)
- 4 gig class 6 memory
now can someone prove me that i got a bad deal?
lets not forget 1yr costco warranty but thats because i used amex card ...
#11 So you got a case, 1year warrenty, 4GB sd card, and have to pay taxes for $$110 More ($60 more and $50 tax.)
Realy it doesent sound any better and if you dont have to pay tax at Amazon it is not any better, and actually worse. Certinaly not enough to say this deal sucks.
I got mine using the service at www.amzpricesniper.com. It watched the Amazon inventory and the moment Amazon received fresh inventory at the regular retail price this obnoxious alarm went off.
