To take advantage of the 15 megapixels, you need some nice lenses, so don't buy cheap lenses for this.

That would be nice to have a camera that can also record at 1080p. I record videos at 640*480 on my old Powershot S5 and the files get pretty big after twenty minutes (2+ gigs). Can't imagine how big the files would be at 1080p. You probably need at least an 8 or 16 gig SDHC card to record anything significant.

#2 don't post cheap camera deals unless you know the retailer is legit. I'm not sure about fumfie.com, but there are a lot of shady bait-n-switch online camera retailers out there. Their site layout sure doesn't convince me either.

      #5,

I did check resellerratings as I always do before I post. In fact Fumfie is rated higher than Butterfly there. I found 3 other sites that were cheaper, but they were iffy.

      Thanks #6.

Amazon just had that mega deal two days ago I would hold out on that the items are supposed to come back in stock soon.

#6 #7 someone ask about them in dpreview forum and it doesn't seem assuring. You guys may be right but I'd be more careful.

      [Q]
      Definitely shady at best.

Before reading these threads, I placed an order with them. They promptly sent me an email asking me to call back to confirm, and the email ostensibly came from a gmail account of theirs: "Fumfie.com" , but with the following Internet Headers:

      Return-Path:
      Mon, 6 Jul 2009 02:02:23 -0700 (PDT)

      Received: from server1.fumfie.com (server1.fumfie.com [69.175.10.58] (may be >forged))
      …
      Mon, 6 Jul 2009 02:02:19 -0700 (PDT)
Received: from nobody by server1.fumfie.com with local (Exim 4.69)
      (envelope-from )
      id 1MNj5T-0004aH-H0
      for x; Mon, 06 Jul 2009 03:58:07 -0400

      [emphasis mine]

Obviously, I canceled, notified the credit card and close friends at the Fraud Division of the Office US Attorney.

Their ratings at resellerratings.com are highly suspect.

Might make for a decent upgrade to my aging 10D... the 18-55is IS a decent lens, not the el-cheapo non-stabilized kit lens that is crap.

Canon needs to invest a little more in the body of these things. The smooth plastic feels very cheap. They need to change over to textured rubberized orange skin or something.

not a bad deal, I'm tempted to get one of these but I already have 3 other cameras so I will wait a bit longer.

FYI the Amazon deal is back on.

I copped the camera + 55mm IS + 250MM IS + 58mm UV Filter for 793 blowing this $ 733 deal to hell. These are the deals you don't see on Bens
