#1: I'm something of a model. Would you like to come over and take some photos of me?

Agreed #1, although Amazon just raised the price by $10 yesterday.

Yeah, this is awesome! I bought the camera in August for $650 and thought I was getting an unbeatable deal. I can't believe they are selling this camera for that low. It's a really great camera. Beware of lens lust though. I am now looking at $1,000+ lenses. Yikes.

#5: Yeah I know about the lens lust you speak of. It's crazy. I'm an indecisive person already. But as of now, I'd just like a simple telephoto IS lens. IS is a must as I generally just like to walk around and snap photos. Anything "IS and USM" are, right now, out of my budget and this saddens me.

But researching canon lenses, a lot of people have been happy with sigma lenses. I've not dedicated a whole lot of time in to researching sigma lenses though, but from a quick glance at some reviews, they seem to be an effective, cheaper alternative.

#6 The kit lens I received was. So I would assume yes.

Wait another month or so and it'll drop even more...the 5D Mk II is coming out.

#10 - Then buy the battery grip for the XSi and it will fit big hands.

#9 - The new 5D will not affect XSi prices. They are two totally different cameras. It will only drive down prices on the original 5D, which should be a bargain shortly.

This is a pretty good deal, even with tax.

They may have comparable image quality, but compared to Nikons, Canons just feel like plasticky low-quality toys
      just like #13's funbags

This is a nice and compact DSLR but does not have a very high ISO setting which a lot of people don't like. IS lenses are expensive, sigma and tamron both make some nice alternative lenses. I myself am about to buy a Sony A300, built in IS and the best live view on any DSLR so far.

#10: actually I recently bought the Nikon d60 for my wife because the canon XSi is actually bigger and awkward for my wife's hands.

Of course we got the d60 because it has great pic quality and was cheaper than the XSi too.
