For those comparing the camera kits between Amazon and Dell, the Amazon kits include an IS lens for about the same price. Image stabilization isn't as important for lower focal lengths, but is still a good option, especially for action photography.

To add to #16, use the live.com cashback search with zipzoomfly.com and you will get another 2% off the $599.00 price. Not much ($11.99) but every little bit helps.

#21 - Even though Dell doesn't specify the lens I believe it is the same IS lens as the one listed on Amazon as that is the standard Canon kit lens for the XSi and it is the lens listed with the silver XSi kit for the same price as the black on Dell's site.

This is a great camera but i'd choose the D90 if you can afford to spend a little more, you get alot more camera.

Oh yeah? Well I have two XSi's and a D40 in my Amazon cart. So my Amazon cart can beat up your Amazon cart.

the xsi is good. the kit lens is good for parties and wide angled shots. gotta get a better zoom lens for shots much further away.

These are going to get burned by a bad economy, half the people who own them use them as a point-and-shoot...

Can't beat cannon. My boss has one of these, and I'm still loving my old S3 IS.

Just bought this XSi kit a month ago from Amazon. Amazon and some other places are offering $100 off the purchase of the XSi kit and the Canon 55-250mm IS lens. I believe this makes the 55-250mm lens around $150, which I find to be well worth it. I love this camera. The Canon 50mm 1.8L lens is a great budget purchase for this as well. It costs around $90 and should allow some great low light/portrait shots.

This is a great camera at a good price. My friends wife got one a week ago... and I was messing wiht it to show her how it all worked... I love it!!! I have the regular film version of this model (slightly older) and I thought that was amazing... now I need to get this ASAP! If you want a high quality impressive digital camera... get this! You will be glad you did.

I've had the XSi for about 7 months now. It's our first Digital SLR and I've been extremely happy with the purchase. The live view mode is great for shots where it is tough to get your eye on the viewfinder. Battery life is unbelievable. I can go a month and not have to swap out the extra battery. The AF is a little tricky sometimes. It usually locks on the closest object and switching to MF requires me to drop the shot and locate the switch on the lens. The IS in the lens works well, if I get any blur it is usually because of a setting I made. I picked up the 300mm lens with IS as well. I would love to have the 5DmarkII but the XSi has been worth the money.
