Free shipping but it must be picked up in a store. Go figure. None of my local stores have it. The closest one is 35 miles away.

It looks like a nice lens. I looked up reviews on camcorders a while back and it seemed like there were none that really impressed the casual user. These are probably almost worth their price but there would be some annoying oddity expected.

Amazing camera! I got a good deal 1 year ago for $1,100 and I am still happy with it. For almost half the price it is a steal! This canera still beats all the current sub $1,000 HD cameras hands down.

Anyone know why crappy video cameras have huge optical zooms whereas better ones are usually 10X or 12X? Is it that the former have lens distortion and no one cares?

Don't know where Ben is getting the $660 price from. I just checked this very camera yesterday and it was $729, and I just checked it AGAIN right now and it's STILL $729. So the deal is $729 - 10%....which is still good but not the 500-hundred figure Ben is claiming to get you click the link.

The video quality of this camera is mindblowing. Plus there are good features such as audio in/out, zebras, some manual control. However, the built-in microphones pick up motor noise in quiet environments (the annoying oddity).

See the link below why you should stay away from AVCHD, which is not a feature of this camcorder. So get one.

Dead. Ben is slow to put the expired sign up in order to get more clicks.

I saw it earlier for $660 but it was OOS online and none available in local CC's.

good point #8, But having mp4 files directly saves a lot of time. Copying them from DV taps and encoding them will be a pain.

I think the bitrate possible is directly proportional to the speed at which SDHC can be written to.

Looking at their resller ratings, 86th Photovideo is one of those scam NY companies. Basically, when you purchase something, they will ask to call you and upsell you on accessories. They will refuse to ship the item if you don't buy the accessories. They have a .2/10 reseller rating. That not 2/10. It's point 2 out of 10. WTF

Anyone know the best deal on an HD camcorder that uses a HDD or SD cards? I had a DV camera once and got sick of babysitting the film transfer. I'd like something a little simpler. I would also settle for 720p, but I'd like something better than 480.
