flash? AVCHD? or tape? Which format will thrive in 2008?

If considering the hard drive version this camera, a new device was just announced and will arrvie in March 2008.

Paid over 1k for this less than a year ago so this is a good drop in price. I didn't have time for good Hard Drive camcorders to come out so it was either this one or the equivalent Sony, and i didn't want to be locked into Sony's memory, etc.

No issues with it at all so far, easy HDMI plugin to the big screen so no real need to drop stuff to my computer for conversion yet.

#4 Can you comment on this camcorder's performance shooting in low light and indoors? Thanks in advance.

Low light is admittedly one of its (few) shortcomings, but it wasn't enough to run me off.

www.camcorderinfo.com will give you the best reviews, down to whatever level of detail you care to go. That's where I came to the HV20 vs. the Sony HDR-HC7. Going there I see they've named the HV20 camcorder of the year. Props to me for buying one!

For me, the HV20 using 24P is the best for low light which is very important to me. Too bad the HC10 sucks on 24P.

24P rules once you figure out when and how to use it. Tape based camcorders better then HD for ease of archiving and recording time only limited by the number of tapes on hand not hard drive size. MiniDV tapes can be bought at almost any tourist hot spot.

PS Abes of Maine ratings are not very good, I'd rather buy from respectable seller for few $ more
