Here is what the problem is with Canon printers; let's say it runs out of yellow ink, it won't let you print anything (even use the black ink) unless you replace the yellow ink! You might have printed out two of a three page long letter using the black ink but the third page may not print out if the printer feels that the yellow ink for example is way too low and it should prevent you from completing printing your letter even though you are not using the yellow ink!
This is a black and white printer. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
