The image is some what deceiving. I went and looked at this in store...and it is surprisingly large and of rather flimsy build. I use a LJ1012 and a Canon flatbed right now, and thought this would make things a bit more compact. Decided against it.
Compact is bad #1, it means more flimsy inside (where it counts) and a tighter paper path, and with some alternatives it also means less room for a larger waste toner reservior, toner hopper, drum, fuser roller, etc (though on this model the toner cartridge is fairly small. That curls pages more, reduces thickness of stock it can use, and potentially other drawbacks depending on the alternative design like lesser paper tray capacity.
Because it has the fax built in it unlike many at $100 it is a fairly good deal made better because you can get bulk toner refills on ebay for much lower cost per page.
